The ‘Baltika Brewery’ State Enterprise was set up in 1990 and in 1992 it was reorganised into a joint shareholding company. In 1993, Baltic Beverages Holding (BBH) became the largest shareholder in the company and a large-scale modernisation of the enterprise began. The introduction of contemporary equipment and advanced technologies made it possible to bring products of the highest quality to market, and this enabled Baltika to become the leader on the Russian beer market in 1996. The Company has maintained this status right up to the present day.

Over the course of its history, Baltika has developed at a fast pace. It purchased breweries, built new ‘green field’ plants and actively expanded its distribution network. At the end of 2006, Baltika merged with three other Russian brewery companies that were also part of the BBH holding company: Vena, Pikra and Yarpivo.

The Company and its brands have received more than 500 Russian and international awards in professional and consumer competitions.

The Company is the largest exporter of Russian beer. The Company’s products are delivered to 50 countries, both near and far, including the USA, Germany, Great Britain, Norway, Greece, Ireland, Finland, Australia, China, Iran and Korea. Baltika’s products account for more than 70% ofRussia’s total beer exports.

Baltika is a member of the Union of Russian Brewers. In 2009, the Company’s Vice-President, HR & Corporate Affairs Daniil Briman was elected Chairman of theUnion.

In those regions where it has breweries, Baltika is the largest local taxpayer. Four years in a row, the Company has been awarded the title of “Best Taxpayer” ofSt. Petersburg. In 2008 Baltika paid to the budgets of all levels more than 25 billion rubles.

Baltika actively participates in socially significant events and in public projects of national and regional importance. All-in-all, in 2008 Baltika allocated more than 136 million rubles to charitable work. Each year the Company supports around 100 events for consumers all around Russia – beer festivals, city anniversary festivities, music festivals and concerts, all of which help to raise the culture of beer sales and consumption. These activities give residents in different cities an opportunity to spend their leisure time in an interesting way.
